The Beginning of
Back in 2000, we weren’t “wedding people” at all. A small Dublin travel studio. A loyal client rang in a panic: her daughter was getting married in Italy, it was one month out, and what they had in place didn’t represent them.
Could we help to ensure solid plans were in place? We said yes.
One yes became a venue rescue, translators, legalities, a coach down a medieval lane, and a dinner that ended in tarantella.
It worked, and it felt like a good omen. More than “the phone never stopped,” what truly began was a mission: to use our know-how to show our people in Ireland how Italy really works, behind the beauty, the brief, and the bureaucracy.
We kept the travel backbone, added producer-grade planning, and built a trusted network so couples could have dolce vita without the drama.

Italian by mother, Irish by nature
Paola Shanahan has always been driven by two passions: exceptional food and authentic travel. Growing up, you'd find her in her Nana's restaurant kitchen in Abruzzo, asking endless questions and soaking up every detail. At school, she was the one everyone turned to when it was time to plan an event.
After finishing her education, Paola set off to explore the world. Travelling as far south as Ushuaia, Argentina, chasing new experiences and perspectives
After a decade working across Italy and Ireland in food and travel, Paola founded Irish Weddings in Italy in 2000. With over 20 years of experience in destination weddings, she understands that creating unforgettable celebrations takes time, expertise, and the right connections.
